3. ANYBODY KNOW OF ANY GOOD EDUCATION PROGRAMS GOING ON IN RURAL GUATEMALA?
Subject: What good educational programs have you seen in Guatemala?
Cooperative for Education (CoEd) is a Cincinnati, Ohio and Guatemala City-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 1996. Our mission is to break the cycle of poverty in Guatemala through education. We do this by providing development assistance to Guatemala by collaborating with (mostly rural, indigenous Mayan) schools to create sustainable educational programs in impoverished and under-served communities. Our website can give you more background on our organization and our programs: www.coeduc.org .
We are currently looking to the future of the organization and considering how we might improve upon our existing programs and design new ones that will best achieve our mission. We are interested in getting input from others who have spent time in Guatemala, as to what good educational programs you’ve seen implemented by NGOs. We’re hoping to learn and improve our programming based on best practices in the field.
Please be in touch if you’ve seen any promising programs. You may email Katie: katie@coeduc.org.
