Support Guatemalans affected by Agatha by participating in Radio America's upcoming Radiothon

Call the Department of Homeland Security. Support TPS for Guatemalans in the U.S. Tropical Storm Agatha, which struck at the end of May, killed at least 170 and left thousands displaced. The Guatemalan government, along with Guatemalan communities in the U.S., are urging the U.S. government to approve Temporary Protective Status (TPS) for Guatemalans.

The U.S. has agreed to provide some immigration benefits, but has not granted TPS. Contact President Obama and the Department of Homeland Security today and ask the government to grant TPS for Guatemalans!

Department of Homeland Security Comment Line: 202-282-8495. If unable to get through, call the White House Comment line: 202-456-1111 (Fax:202-456-2461). (More information and ways to help humanitarian efforts available on our website.)

You can also support Guatemalans affected by Agatha by participating in Radio America's upcoming Radiothon. The Guatemalan community in greater Washington, DC has selected San Lucas Toliman to receive the funds because over 2,000 families have lost their homes in that community.

The funds will be collected thru "Centro Catolico Hispano" (Catholic Hispanic Center) and oversight will be a collaborative effort between a representative of the Washington DC community, Radio America, and the San Lucas Toliman diosis. Working with the community they will determine how the funds can best benefit the community. Tune in June 18 from 8am-12pm to Radio America, Am 1540 (www.radioamerica.net). **Checks can be made out to the Centro Catolico Hispano with a note in the memo Guatemala Radiothon and sent to 11141 Georgia Avenue, Suite 310, Wheaton, MD 20902. .
