A judge will decide March 9 if she will grant bail to a man accused of lying while applying for U.S. citizenship about whether he was with the Guatemalan army and commanded the massacre of 251 people in 1982.

Court of Queen's Bench Justice Suzanne Bensler adjourned the decision on Jorge Vinicio Orantes Sosa to review arguments by Crown prosecutor David Gates and defence lawyer Alain Hepner at a bail hearing on Friday.

Sosa has been held on an extradition warrant since being arrested in Lethbridge on Jan. 18 while visiting family. The state of California wants him back to answer the charges of giving false information on his citizenship application in March of 2008.
