Las autoridades guatemaltecas informaron este viernes que han iniciado una “intensa búsqueda” con operativos  en San Marcos, Huehuetenango, Sololá, Retalhuleu y Totonicapán,  para capturar a los responsables de dar  muerte a ocho policías y de secuestrar a Cesar Augusto García subinspector, hechos ocurridos  en el interior de la subestación ubicada en el municipio de Salcajá, Quetzaltenango.

Lo que se obtiene con violencia, se defiende con violencia dijo M. Gandhi. Esta frase queda como anillo al dedo a las élites que, una vez más, han obstruido la justicia invocando al comunismo y al anticomunismo. Para estas élites parece que el mundo no camina.

De acuerdo con el fallo de fecha 12 de abril de 2013 elaborado por el Procurador de los Derechos Humanos (PDH) concerniente con la presunta violación al debido proceso denunciado por los hermanos Francisco José Ramón Valdés Paiz y José Estuardo Valdés Paiz, dentro del caso Rosenberg; la Comisión Internacional contra la Impunidad en Guatemala se permite transcribir parte del informe del PDH  que precisa lo relativo a las responsabilidades:

An appeals court in Guatemala City announced Tuesday that it has upheld a lower court decision which acquitted former President Alfonso Portillo of criminal charges that he had stolen over USD $15 million during his time as president. In 2011 the criminal charges of embezzlement [JURIST report] against Portillo were thrown out by the lower court, which found that prosecutors had failed to meet their burden of demonstrating that Portillo was personally involved in the embezzlement of Guatemala's Ministry of Defense [official website, in Spanish] funds. The appeals court rejected [El Periodico report, in Spanish] the government's appeal, finding that the lower court ruling was not in error.
