    Writer and photographer, Jean-Marie Simon joins us to discuss her book “Guatemala: Eternal Primavera, Eterna Tiranía [Eternal Spring: Eternal Tyranny].” We’ll speak to Simon about her work documenting human rights violations during Guatemala’s civil war in the 1980s, how her photos created a historical memory of the armed conflict and her use of the website Kickstarter to fund her new book’s publication. On eve of Guatemala’s Peace Accords, we have a conversation with Simon about what the future holds for a country where many still do not acknowledge its past.

    Monday's show is called “Living on One Dollar – A Journey Into Guatemala’s Poverty Problem” with our special guests: Chris Temple and Zach Ingrasci. Zach and Chris are Executive Directors and Co-Founders of Living on One. The company's first feature film, Into Poverty: Living on One Dollar, follows the journey of Zach, Chris and two filmmakers as they try to live on just $1 a day for eight weeks in rural Guatemala. The film's teaser videos have received over 580,000 views on YouTube, and the project has been featured in the Huffington Post and at TEDx Buenos Aires. Zach and Chris are currently touring the country speaking and hosting screenings of the film at 25 universities and 8 major cities around the U.S.
